No matter why you’re here - whether it’s a gift for your fiance or a treat-yo-self kinda thing - it’s SO SCARY to think about getting naked in front of a camera. omgggggg-what-if-it’s-awkward-what-if-i-don’t-know-how-to-be-sexy-what-if-the-camera-sees-all-the-little-parts-of-me-i-don’t-like-what-if——
I’m here to answer all the questions and make this as amazing an experience for you! Here’s a few fun reads to answer questions + calm nerves, plus to the prettiest photos!!
hard to believe this is like… the fourth year that we’ve done our annual holiday collab with our beloved Darlin’ Lingerie!
Katie just moved into a new space in Germantown, so between standard holiday madness, moving and just being generally worn tf out by 2024, we decided to keep it cozy and shoot in her new space :)
savannah shot these lovebirds at home, which is a great option if you’re looking to offset any nerves you or your partner may feel going into it. being familiar with your setting maximizes comfort, and even adds to the sentimentality of the photos in the long run.
Our latest girls’ trip at Rachel Oxford Collective found us on the beach in 30A, recreating one of the most iconic pieces of art in the entirety of human history — Botticelli’s Birth of Venus.
Something that we’re most proud of when it comes to the boudoir division of Rachel Oxford Collective is the community of women we’ve created. Clients have become friends - not only with us, but with each other too - and so our boudoir session days occasionally become entire boudoir session trips, one of the most recent ones being to Palm Springs, CA.
they said “romanticize your life,” and I thought laundry would be a great place to start 🌱🍄☀️ sunshine, fresh linens, getting tangled up in sheets and oversized button downs sounded like a clean way to kick off the summer!
If you're trying to figure out what to wear for your boudoir session, allow us to suggest that you bring a classic white button down to your shoot-- *especially* if it belongs to your honey!
it’s our second year shooting Darlin’s holiday collection and it’s always such a special collaboration! we shot at Madison Country Club in Nashville which is seriously the cutest, girliest space for photos + this year we pulled our girl Timber Rose in - not only is she a familiar face at Darlin, she’s also a costume designer and burlesque dancer in the Rainbow Room Review at legendary Skulls downtown <3
driving through mountains you’ve never seen, getting a little lost trying to find your airbnb, wonder if you’re going to literally die because you didn’t pack long johns and you forgot you’d be sleeping basically outside one night in a canyon under the stars in 35-degree weather, etc etc, experiencing that feeling of newness that we lose a little, the older and wiser we get.
so to celebrate all of these things, to love on myself a little, and to pay homage to the landscape…. i figured a lil bit of mildly-western-cowboy-themed boudoir wouldn’t hurt.
2021 saw one of my wildest dreams come true — I got to collaborate with a lingerie boutique for a holiday campaign! And while I shoot campaigns for all kinds of businesses, this moment felt particularly special for me. Why? Because I finally had the opportunity to share what I do in the world of boudoir without having to hold anything back.
Between the wine, pasta, gelato, gorgeous views and George Clooney’s estate right down the road — there’s hardly any place on earth that could feel sexier — so naturally a boudoir session before this bride’s ceremony was a must!
Boudoir photography does not have to be confined to a pretty, perfectly staged bedroom. In fact, I would say as someone who shoots it for a living, it can be wildly refreshing to take your sexy ass outside for a change. That’s what inspired this summer’s boudoir mini sessions, which were held right in my own backyard.
When I came across The Adora House in Nashville, my heart skipped a few beats. A retro-chic house of glamour? Sign me up. I grabbed my team and Lauren and spent an entire day immersing myself in the vibe, playing with light and shadow and vintage furniture until I thought I might die of happiness.
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with the one and only Kindly Myers, a literal Playboy model! I’ve gotta say, her name really suits her cause she’s just as beautiful on the inside :-)
Boudoir has a reputation. Sometimes it’s met with enthusiasm, or eyerolls, or reluctance and borderline trepidation. And I get it - because I used to kind of roll my eyes at it too. I’d see random boudoir photos pop up on Pinterest .. super kitschy, usually poor quality photography and editing (how these images always show up first I’ll never understand). And honestly I compared it to glorified glamour shots at the mall back in the day, and how are you supposed to find any “self-love” in that?? Just sounded like a cheesy pitch to me.
