welcome to the wild west: cowboy themed boudoir | Utah Boudoir ft Amangiri
nobody walks into their boudoir session and says “hi i brought my chaps, let’s cowboy up,” but since that option is always on the table (and maybe you should?!), i figured i might as well dream up a lil western themed boudoir session while i was out in Utah in January.
the fun thing about doing themed shoots like this is how my daily clients are able to incorporate small elements. it’s all about what sticks out and makes sense for you personally. inspiration for your session can truly come from anywhere - movies or music videos you grew up watching, the album you had on repeat during an important chapter in your life, etc. The location of your shoot can also play a role, as it did for me here.
those who have been along for the ride know early January was a hard one for me, so when I had the opportunity to have 2 days alone + join a mastermind hosted by Kristin Sweeting at Amangiri i leapt at the chance. it was exactly what I needed. I had two days alone, mostly spent driving + sleeping (and eating at subway because fun fact: the wild west is still pretty rural).
i know traveling alone can sound scary or boring, but there is truly nothing like that alone time you have to yourself. driving through mountains you’ve never seen, getting a little lost trying to find your airbnb, wonder if you’re going to literally die because you didn’t pack long johns and you forgot you’d be sleeping basically outside one night in a canyon under the stars in 35-degree weather, etc etc, experiencing that feeling of newness that we lose a little, the older and wiser we get.
so to celebrate all of these things, to love on myself a little, and to pay homage to the landscape….
i figured a lil bit of mildly-western-cowboy-themed boudoir wouldn’t hurt.
