2021 saw one of my wildest dreams come true — I got to collaborate with a lingerie boutique for a holiday campaign! And while I shoot campaigns for all kinds of businesses, this moment felt particularly special for me. Why? Because I finally had the opportunity to share what I do in the world of boudoir without having to hold anything back.
That might seem confusing, because it’s not like the fact that I shoot boudoir is a secret; it’s just that usually, I can’t share my work. Even the photos that I’m most proud of! Because the fact of the matter is, I’m not shooting models or adult content creators. I’m working every day with the girl next door; housewives, brides, nurses, Sunday school teachers — beautiful creatures who need to keep their photos private. I’m more than happy to do that, obviously, but sometimes it can feel a little lonely around here. Like I don’t have anyone to share my excitement and enthusiasm around my work with. That is until this collaboration with Darlin’ came along.
Katie may not be a photographer, but she’s ultimately doing the same thing for the same people that I am. She shares my vision and passion for making women feel beautiful in their own skin, and for de-stigmatizing women expressing their sensuality. This collaboration gave me a tangible, visual, fruit of my labor kind of thing. The ability to feel like what I’m doing — what we are doing — doesn’t have to be hidden away for some reason. It was a way to really celebrate what we do! And for that I’m beyond grateful.
That said, one thing that I hear a lot as a boudoir photographer is: “Oh my gosh, I have no idea what to wear. What would fit me right for my body type?!”
I can send you a what to wear guide [and I do], but I cant physically be there to hold your hand and go to the store with you. I also know online shopping is great and all, but it really sucks not being able to ask those questions of someone. That’s why being able to send my clients to someone as talented as Katie who can really be there to assist in that process of finding what works for you is the best!
I know you guys are gonna be taken care of, I know you’re gonna have your questions answered, I know you’re gonna be with someone is super size inclusive — because everything that matters to me matters to Katie, too.
So next time you need something beautiful and intimate to wear, do yourself a favor and see her. And here’s another fun aspect of this collaboration: me and my associate Sav didn’t just shoot a campaign, we also got to make selections + personal recommendations that you’ll see in the store!
We recently had a party to celebrate the occasion, and I was blown away by how many people came to support us. We snapped polaroids, shopped our little asses off, and basically just had the girls night to end all girls nights. If you came out to see us, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. If you so much as double tapped one of our pics, thank you. My heart is beyond full. And it’ll probably take me at least another year to process that all of this happened. It wouldn’t have been possible without you!!!
