"THIS PLACE SUCKS" // THE MOST PERFECT PLACE ON EARTH // LAKE COMO, ITALY
Shooting destination weddings has to be one of the biggest blessings afforded to me as a photographer.
After being locked away for what felt like an eternity due to covid-19, it was absolutely incredible to venture back out into the world— especially when our travels took us to Lake Como, Italy.
The bride + groom opted for an intimate elopement + ultimate honeymoon vibe over dealing with the chaos of planning a large event during a pandemic. And honestly — it couldn’t have been more perfect.
When we stepped off the plane, we packed our stuff into our rental car [truly like playing Tetris IRL tbh] and made our way to our home for the week, a stunning bungalow tucked into the mountainside named Villa la Ruga. Wine + a gorgeous seventeen course meal [okay maybe that’s a tad dramatic, but barely] were waiting for us — along with a truly breathtaking view of the lake. We essentially spent our entire trip just basking in those things; wine, great food, great views, and most importantly, love. The kind of love that pisses you off a little every time you watch Under the Tuscan Sun. Or The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Or Stephanie + Charlie making out in front of something pretty [which they did a lot + we fully stan]. It was all so perfect that Savannah walked around saying “This place sucks” with a massive smile plastered on her face at least three times a day.
So — if you’re thinking about a trip to Italy, you HAVE TO GO TO LAKE COMO. Try to book Villa La Ruga — not only because its gorgeous, but because the man who owns it [named Francesco, :’-)] is truly precious. And he owns a boat. Need I say more?!
