SHIPWRECKED IN APALACHICOLA, FL // HISTORIC TOWN IN 30A
Hello from the sunshine state! :-)
I’m in 30A for a quick work trip, and stumbled upon what is perhaps the coolest thing I have ever (or will ever) come across — a literal shipwreck.
Here’s the thing; I’m pretty spontaneous when it comes to booking a place to stay. I didn’t even look into hotels until we were already on the road, which is probably why availability was scarce and incredibly pricey. Luckily, my girl Savvy discovered a newly renovated historic hotel called The Gibson Inn, located in a tiny little fishing town called Apalachicola.
Apalachicola [say it five times fast] is beyond lovely; it boasts exactly one stop light and super cute restaurants that refuse to serve chicken tenders after sunset. Just a few minutes down the highway? Cape San Blas and the Donna Kay, a shrimping boat that was run-a-ground by a hurricane several years ago. We couldn’t resist the opportunity to indulge in the castaway vibes, so keep scrolling to see some of our favorites from the day’s shoot!
If you wanna find miss Donna, she’s located about a mile down the beach from 29.6767827, -85.3621686 (park here, then you’ll have to walk — there’s only one direction you can go; I promise it’s easy to find). But jsyk, there’s talk of this beauty being moved soon — so hurry before she’s gone!
